Your adventure begins with a hotel pick-up in Chiang Mai. Head towards Mae Wang National Park, about a 1.5-hour drive to the quiet town of Doi Lor. Here, discover Pha Chor and Kew Sua Ten, often dubbed Thailand’s Grand Canyon. These surreal rock formations were sculpted by erosion over time and are believed to have once been part of the Ping River’s path. Take a two-hour nature trek through these dramatic landscapes surrounded by lush forest.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the jungle, then continue to Ob Luang National Park, where you'll spend the night immersed in nature.
Note: Ob Luang National Park is closed annually from March 1 to April 30.
After breakfast, journey to Mae Sariang, a charming riverside town in Mae Hong Son province. Tucked between rice fields and rolling hills, the town remains largely undiscovered by mainstream tourism. En route, stop at roadside markets to see how locals sell seasonal produce—like mushrooms or edible insects.
Upon arrival, visit Wat Chom Thong, perched on a hilltop with sweeping views of the town and surrounding valley. Enjoy lunch in town, check in to a local hotel, and spend your afternoon exploring the village at your own pace and interacting with the local community.
Begin the day with a scenic mountain drive to Mae Sam Laep, a remote border village shared by Burmese and Karen ethnic groups. Explore this cultural melting pot with a visit to the border school, then take a boat trip along the Salawin River, which marks the boundary between Thailand and Myanmar.
Along the river, enjoy the dramatic views of forested mountains and peaceful riverbanks. Make a stop at Ban Tha Ta Fang, a Karen village nestled along the water’s edge. Return to Mae Sam Laep by boat, have lunch, then head back to Mae Sariang to unwind.
Rise early to visit the bustling local morning market and witness the daily alms-giving ritual as monks collect offerings from villagers. After breakfast, begin your return journey to Chiang Mai, with several stops along the way.
Relax at Mae Cham Hot Springs, then drive through Hmong tribal farmlands where you might see locals working their fields. Later, ascend Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand’s tallest peak at 2,565 meters. Visit the stunning Wachirathan and Mae Klang waterfalls, among the park’s most spectacular natural features.
Enjoy lunch en route at a local restaurant. Return to Chiang Mai by late afternoon.
