Lâm Đồng – Liên Khương Airport will suspend operations for six months, from March 4 to August 25, 2026, to undergo upgrades to its runway, taxiways, and technical infrastructure.

This announcement was made by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) during a meeting with the Lâm Đồng Provincial People's Committee on November 25. The closure period has been shortened by two months compared to the previous plan.

The project has a total investment of over 966 billion VND, which includes:

  • Construction of a new runway, 3,250 meters long and 45 meters wide.

  • Improvements to the taxiway and drainage systems.

  • Construction of new foundations for aviation equipment.

After construction, ACV will conduct calibration flights before resuming operations.

Liên Khương Airport, located in Đức Trọng District, is 28 kilometers from the center of Đà Lạt. Established in 1933, it has undergone several upgrades, the most recent being in 1997 when the runway was extended to 2,354 meters, meeting ICAO standard 3C.

Future Plans

According to the development plan through 2030, Liên Khương aims to reach level 4E, accommodating Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 aircraft. Expected capabilities include:

  • Serving 5 million passengers annually.

  • Handling 20,000 tons of cargo each year.

Future upgrades will further extend the runway to 3,600 meters, increasing annual capacity to 7 million passengers. All infrastructure will align with Terminal T2 and additional facilities, establishing Liên Khương as the aviation gateway to the Central Highlands.
